While
studying for High School entrance exams, Yuuki Miaka and her
friend Yui find an ancient Chinese book called "The Universe
of the Four Gods" at the library. According to the book,
"This is the story of one girl who having gathered the
Seven Seishi of "Suzaku" acquired the power to make
any wishes come true. The story itself is a spell. One who finishes
the book shall acquire the same power as the heroine and her
wishes will come true. As soon as the page is turned the story
will become the truth and begin." They are then sucked
into the book and transported to an ancient Chinese world where
Miaka becomes the heroine of the book. [credits]
